FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK THOUGHTS: What is it about October that makes me think of Dostoevsky? Virginia Woolf described the Russian’s novels as “seething whirlpools, gyrating sandstorms, waterspouts which hiss and boil and suck us in. They are composed purely and wholly of the stuff of the soul. Against our wills we are drawn in, whirled round, blinded, suffocated, and at the same time filled with a giddy rapture.” Not unlike the month of October, I suppose. Think about that while you check out. The assemblage of Paula McCullough at Tribeca; Fiona Cooper Fenwick’s en plein air pastels at Cathedral Church of Saint Paul; Andrew Reach’s whimsies, conflicts, and desires at Studio STK; and Jude Bond’s mixed media work at FLYNNDOG.
