First Friday Art Walk is this Friday! With nine openings and dozens of other exhibitions, April's First Friday Art Walk is swinging. CLICK HERE...TO VISIT THE WEBSITE & SEE A LIST OF OPENINGS. A leading writer of 20th century modern fiction, Donald Barthelme, once remarked, "Art is not difficult because it wishes to be difficult, rather because it wishes to be art." In truth, most art isn't difficult. It is what it is: paint on a canvas, plaster on a steel frame, ink on paper. And its subject is not that difficult either: a mother holding a child, a tree by a lake, a field of blue next to a pool of orange with a red dot and a yellow streak and some more blue in the corner. The only thing difficult about art is resisting it. This First Friday Art Walk I encourage you to put up no resistance at all to Erik Rehman's luminous dark images at Frog Hollow, Gerard Rinaldi's adagio at Artpath Gallery, Chepe Cuadra’s fragmented figures at SEABA Gallery, or Stephen Schaub's Haiku photographs at Kasini House. Pick up your copy of Art Map Burlington, First Friday Art Walk’s official publication, and your guide to art in Burlington to see a list of participating venues. Got questions?
