The biggest, longest standing art show in Burlington has been the daily sunset over Lake Champlain, best viewed from a swinging bench on the waterfront or perched atop Paul Aschenbach’s Moran Sculpture just off the bike path. The Astronomical Applications Department at the U.S. Naval Observatory reports that sunset on May 4th in 05401 will be at exactly 8:01PM and that’s a good thing. You’ll have more than enough time to check out some of the less astral but equally fantastic art shows: Margaret Clairmont’s robot paintings at City Market Onion River Co-op, Beth Pearson’s “Under and Through” at Artpath Gallery, Denis Versweyveld at Pine Street Art Works, Maggie Standley’s mixed-media abstract paintings inspired by her travels to Belize and Guatemala at wingspan Studios, and of course, everything in between. |
