Throughout Burlington |
The abolitionist, clergyman, and free lover Henry Ward Beecher, in 1887, had this to say about artists: “Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.” He was laid to rest the same year in Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery, whose residents also include Jean-Michel Basquiat, Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives, and a few other long-dead artists whose work we still revere today. That’s the thing about art. Its makers may come and go--dipping into their soul; smattering their essence across the canvas--but what they leave behind lives on forever. Or put more simply: It’s alive! It’s alive. The Art is Alive. Tres Crady’s photography is blooming at Viva Espresso; Carol Norton’s watercolors and oils are bustling at Studio D-3; and the folks at AO! Glass are breathing fire. And, quite literally, it’s Art’s Alive at Union Station on the Waterfront where an exhibition of this year’s festival participants comes of age. Check it out! |
