ART ON THE COVER Robin Lahue Robin Lahue had this to say about her art: “I have been doodling as long as I can remember. My schoolbooks were always covered with little drawings and scribbles. Recently I started translating these doodles into more coherent pen and ink drawings, in between working on my paintings. They are a little repetitive and somewhat obsessive. They also feel extremely personal in a strange sort of way, so I have been a little reluctant to show them until recently. I seem to be drawn to them and I always want to go back to working on them. Creating the drawings is a form of meditation. I can get lost in the process for hours. In a way, I think they are a manifestation of my frustration with the chaos in the world around me. There are many things I can not change, but I can control these little marks on this piece of paper. They very often emanate from a fixed central point. This starting point is the center that gathers energy and then spreads it outwardly through the drawing. “ |
