Old Burying Ground by Bill Guild

“For me, the journey is the final product,” explains Bennington-artist Bill Guild. “All I can do is wait and receive what is being revealed. And say thank you.”

In his work, Guild brings together his study of Buddhism and photography to create graceful, meditative images. Old Burying Ground, on the cover of the January 2007 issue of Art Map Burlington, is an example of both Guild’s ability to find harmony in chaos--in this case the scattering of tomb stones in a cemetery--and his mastery of contrast and tone. A striking landscape, Old Burying Ground, could just as easily be pebbles in a stream or a snapshot of our DNA.
