Rutland native Debbie Canavan Holmes is self-taught. Her medium is oil; her style is Realism. She is an exhibiting member of the Chaffee Art Center, and lives in Clarendon Springs. Holmes had this to say about her work: “In Vermont, it is easy to find inspiration for nature scenes because everywhere you look is a potential photograph, drawing or painting, waiting to be captured. I prefer to paint ‘close-up’, as opposed to vast landscapes. There is more of a chance of capturing something unique.
