Celebrating 25 Years of Jazz Through June 30th: "Celebrating 25 Years of Jazz”: Artists Joel Beckwith, Frank Federico, and Felix Sockwell share the walls of the Flynn Center’s Amy E. Tarrant Gallery in celebration of Burlington Discover Jazz Festival’s 25th Anniversary. All three artists have special connections to the jazz genre, and the Flynn is excited to present their works during this particularly exhilarating time of the year. Directed by Ginny Mullen, the Senior Art Guild Founding Teacher, this organization provides free weekly art classes to seniors in Burlington using quality art materials. Along with art classes, the Guild enjoys field trips to museums as well as participating in community exhibitions. For several years, the guild has held an exhibition at Metropolitan Gallery in May, and links it with a reception showcasing the creative talents of our senior population through sharing music, dance, story and three-dimensional art forms. Firehouse Center for the Visual Arts Firehouse Center Second Floor: May 2-28: Anthony D. Sini’s “Drawings Revisited”. Sini reworks observations from his sketch books, creating large scale charcoal drawings “while still being puzzled by the whole process.” Reception: May 2, 5-8PM. Community Darkroom: May 2-June 15: “Gorillas And Other Domestic Disturbances”: Recent color digital work from BCA photography instructor Michelle Colling. “The announcement came over the radio: Gorillas had escaped from the zoo and all neighborhoods in the vicinity should be on the lookout...” Opening reception: Friday, May 2, 5-7PM. In the Fletcher Room through May: “Art from the College Street YMCA”: A showcase of pinch pots and texture tiles created by young students exploring clay with art educator Dorsey Hogg.
