May 2-June 14: “Elusive Truths”: Jess Bachman, John O’Connor, Ward Shelley, and Christopher Thompson. Daily we are inundated by a torrent of information from newspapers, television, radio, magazines and the internet, but what do we truly gather from that information? Using methodologies appropriated from corporate imagery and scientific practice, “Elusive Truths” explores the aesthetics of visual analysis and information graphics. Through the investigation of governmental and corporate financial strategies, mass media and the art world, artists Jess Bachman, John O’Connor, Ward Shelley and Christopher Thompson expose and decode vernacular information using charts, maps and graphs which aid the audience in probing, analyzing and deciphering our world. “Elusive Truths” is sponsored in part by an anonymous donor. Opening reception: Friday, May 2, 6-8PM. Artist Talk: Friday, May 2, 5-6PM.
